In early days the only way in winter to bring wood to the Salzkammergut was with skates. This was both a difficult and a dangerous job. Snow tires would have been useful those days to overcome the difficult deep snow.

What remains from the experience gathered in those days of trying to find more effective ways of getting through the snow are the snow boots. But what has improved through modern technology are modern and light weight boots making hiking through deep snow fun. One hell of a lot of snow, untouched high valleys and mountain tops incomparable landscape combined with modern equipment. The best snow boot area for winter hikes is also the training spot for Toni Rosifkas Huskies. Toni is a hut landlord, a mountain guide, and musher and has been roaming the mash for 20 years across the Dachstein along with his dogs.

Requirements: Snow boot hiking is fast easy to learn. For the easy winter hikers no special alpine knowledge is necessary. Mountain hiking experience is an advantage. One thing you should bring along is a good condition, in order to enjoy the pleasure with fun.
