Study Trail "Stories of Goisern"

Kurpark This "historical walk" starts at the tourist information office in the Höplingerhaus. The Kirchengasse lane leads to the catholic church, from where you can reach the market square by following a narrow path. We walk past the municipal office along the Marktstraße street and the Konsumverein (used to be an inn for associations) to the protestant church, where we pass the nowadays already 100 year old primary school. Walking along the Ramsaustraße street we take a right turn before the Goiserer Bridge into the Traunreiterweg foot path. When we reach the railway crossing, we walk across to the hut of the crossbow association past the lumberjack museum to the Goiserermühle hotel and the Kurpark.

Catholic Parish Church

This church was first built in the 14th century but destroyed by fire in 1548 and then restored. Between 1836 and 1839 new parts were added. Visitors are attracted by the Baroque altar from 1691. Besides, there are many wonderful pictures and sculptures and 6 very precious Gothic pictures made by Frueauf the Older, who lived in Salzburg around 1500.

Protestant Church

Protestant ChurchProtestant Church IThe history of this evangelic church reflects ecclesiastical history in general. In 1782 the wooden building was used as a place of prayer. Around 50 years later it was replaced by a building made of stone, but still one couldn´t know that it was a church. It was not until 1859 that a steeple with a bell and a clock was erected!
