Attersee fixed rope route Mahdlgupf

Rock climing on Lake Attersee

This is a long and beautiful, yet not too difficult, fixed rope route to the Mahdlgupf directly at Lake Attersee. The route along the enormous "White Wall", does demand a certain level of physical fitness - almost 1200 rope metres lead to the ascent directly alongside the crest! The middle piece of the route is very steep and partly open. After a rest in the so-called "forest", it follows a long ridge section, which provides a wonderful hike with views of the lake as well as short steep fixed rope passages. At the end of the route, you climb up a steeper wall to the crest. The fixed rope route is a very nice alternative to the very crowded vie ferrate at the "Drachenwand" and is a great pleasure-route with a real beach feeling! For detailed description have a look at the topographic map: the difficult passages are in the middle part. One part is D (small pass), a few parts are C/D (steep passages), however, most parts of the route are B/C. You will need complete climbing equipment and a helmet. The route is well secured with a strong steel rope and foot anchors.
